NJCU Alumni Network

A degree from NJCU is just the beginning!

The NJCU alumni network is one of the most powerful ways to enhance your career, outreach with like-minded peers, attend networking and social events, engage with current students as mentors and more.

NJCU welcomes and encourages alumni participation in a wide range of activities. Alumni assist in the planning of networking sessions and reunions, engage with students in fields of mutual interest, and are present to greet prospective students and their parents during Open House and other events.

In reaching out to talented young people in their communities, many alumni also play an important role in student recruitment. Others share “real world” perspectives with students in classes, public forums, and career networking events.

NJCU Young Alumni

At NJCU, those who have graduated within the past 10 years are NJCU Young Alumni.

Within this group, a core team of dedicated alumni organize events for alumni—both undergraduate and graduate level--who graduated from NJCU in the past 10 years. The group regularly hosts career-oriented and social events both on and off campus.

NJCU DAY

Planning is well underway for 2016 alumni reunions and will be especially exciting for those celebrating milestone anniversaries ranging from one and five years out through 50 or more.  This year, these special reunions will be part of NJCU Day, to be held on Saturday, September 24.  NJCU Day will combine all of the excitement of the reunions, with a lifelong learning component, where alumni can attend faculty lectures on timely topics, outdoor performances on the green, tours of Jersey City, family fun events including amusements for children, an alumni barbecue, and more!

2016 Milestone Years

Members of the Class of 1966 from then-Jersey City State College will celebrate their 50th Anniversary on campus during NJCU DAy in September.

Joining them will be Golden Gothics from the Classes of 1930-1965 as well as milestone anniversary groups from the Class of 1976 (40th Anniversary), Class of 1986 (30th Anniversary), Class of 1991 (25th Anniversary), Class of 1996 (20th Anniversary), and Class of 2006 (10th Anniversary).

In addition, NJCU alumni newcomers--the Classes of 2011 (5th Anniversary), and 2015 (1st Anniversary) will also celebrate.

Interested in Contacting Your Classmates?

Please contact NJCU Alumni Relations at alumni.njcu.edu or by phone at 201-200-3250  if you are interested in reaching out to encourage members of your class to attend what is sure to be the largest, most festive alumni event yet!

Golden Gothics

All alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago are known as Golden Gothics. In 2016, the Class of 1966 joins the group, which includes graduates from 1930-1965. The Golden Gothics are an important part of the University’s annual commencement ceremony. Robed in academic attire, they join the procession with faculty and graduates, and are recognized for their important role in providing continuity in the University’s mission.  NJCU's Commencement 2016 will be held May 11, 2016 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
